Christchurch secure back-to-back Women’s Premier titles

Christchurch won their 12th title in impressive fashion, outlasting University 38-25 to cap off an exciting day of Women’s Finals action at Ngā Puna Wai.

Off the back of an impressive hat-trick of tries for FPC player Lucy Jenkins, Christchurch were able to cross the chalk six times, with newly named FPC Hooker Atlanta Lolohea picking up two tries, and Steph Te Ohaere-Fox getting herself on the scoresheet too, ensuring University were unable to ever regain the ascendancy in the game.

University didn’t die wondering however, with a try apiece to Marcelle Parkes, Stacey Niao, Nicole Purdom and Erana Te Moananui keeping the Viperettes in the fight throughout the game, right up until time became the enemy, with Christchurch deserved winners on the day.

The 3rd v 4th Premiership playoff was also a thriller, with the Lincoln University Ewes sneaking past HSOB 24-17.

In the Championship Final, Linwood were too good for Kaiapoi 50-12, capping off a strong end to the season for the side after a challenging off-season.

Prebbleton were too strong for Ashburton Celtic 89-0 to finish off their first season back in the Premier division for over 20 years.

The day also featured a Premier Reserve fixture, with Geraldine beating Suburbs 67-24.
