Refereeing in Canterbury

Experience the action and excitement of rugby, along with the flexibility, by becoming a referee. You can choose when and how often you’d like to referee and if you want, you can start out as an Assistant Referee.

Associate Referee courses

The Associate Referees course is an introduction to refereeing course. Come along and learn a bit more about refereeing.

Coaching & Training

If it’s your first year you’ll spend time in a team of other new referees learning the tricks of the trade and developing your knowledge. Then when you become a referee you’ll be assigned a coach who will work with you to develop your game. Choose when to attend the training sessions and feel free to contact your coach whenever you have questions.
