Bascik Transport to help deliver grassroots Rugby in Christchurch

Canterbury Rugby is excited to announce Bascik Transport as a Major Grassroots partner supporting Metro Club Rugby in Christchurch, with the local logistics company delighted to aid the delivery of the grassroots game for the next three years.

“Metro Rugby is a community institution that many parents are involved with, including myself during my sons playing years.” said Bascik Transport Managing Director Tony Bascik. “I found it a great experience (to be a part of the community).”

For the team at Bascik Transport, the ability to support the wider community appealed in becoming the new Metro partner.

“It’s very rewarding to give back to the local Christchurch community, we are proud to be Canterbury owned and operated.”

Fiona Smith, Community Rugby Manager at Canterbury Rugby, also highlighted the significance of having a local company involved in Christchurch’s winter game.

“It’s fantastic to have Bascik Transport come onboard and become a vocal supporter for Metro Rugby.” Smith said.

“Club Rugby is a hugely important for the connection and belonging it fosters, and to have Bascik Transport along to support us will help us continue to play an important part in the development of our community.”

As a part of the relationship, Bascik Transport will be the naming rights partner of both Men’s and Women’s Premier and Premier Reserve competitions, as well as Colts, supporting the next generation of players.

Like all in the community, Tony Bascik is looking ahead to the season beginning, with an eye on an exciting season.

“We’re certainly looking forward to a full season in 2023 that hopefully the participants can enjoy without recent interruptions.”

The 2023 Metro season begins on the 15th of April with Round 1 of the Bascik Transport Metro Premier competition highlighted by a Final rematch between Sydenham and Marist Albion at Sydenham Park.

The remaining draws for the Bascik Transport Metro competitions are still to be finalised alongside team entries.
