Ohoka and Flawless Finishes refresh women’s facilities

The offseason creates the perfect opportunity for clubs to refresh their clubrooms, with Ohoka RFC another club who have taken the time to spruce up their facilities ahead of the 2023 season.

The changing rooms at Mandeville Sports Centre will be looking spick and span thanks to Flawless Finishes’ painters and decorators and the hard work of a handful of rugby volunteers, turning the Women’s changing rooms maroon and white over the weekend.

The rooms, which are designed to make the traditional changing room experience more inclusive for women to take up rugby, will provide the club with a quality resource as they look to grow their club and build a women’s team.

“It’s really important that we can provide the correct facilities for women playing rugby so they can feel comfortable and women’s rugby can grow.  Having the new and improved changing room will make a huge difference” said Lynda McCallum (committee member of Ohoka RFC).

The opportunity to support a local club was the driver behind the competition led by Flawless Finishes, with the painters keen to lend their expertise to a club in need.

“We wanted to give back to our community” said Flawless Finishes’ Iain Sandilands.

“We thought the ability for us to support Ohoka in the women’s space was the perfect project to help out with and we couldn’t be prouder with the result.”

Iain hoped it would be the first of many projects between Flawless Finishes and Canterbury’s Rugby Clubs, “We are here to help, if any club is needing support with their next project, please get in touch!”
