Jase Ryan appointed All Blacks Assistant Coach

It was a big day for Sydenham fan Jason Ryan on the weekend, with son Olly and his beloved Sydenham side taking out the Metro Premier Final, and Jase being appointed the new All Blacks Assistant Coach.

The Ryan family has a long history synonymous with Sydenham, with Jase’s father Bernie, Jase and now Olly all members of the senior side.

Jase played more than 180 senior games for Sydenham, including in their last final success in 1999. He also played six games for Buller in 1999 and 14 for the West Coast from 2000 to 2003,

Sydenham was the home of the start of his coaching journey too, before a stint as the West Coast’s assistant coach in 2012.

Jase joined the Canterbury crew in 2013 as an assistant, before moving up the pathway to the Crusaders in 2016, before opportunities with Fiji and now the All Blacks.

Well done Jase, the whole Canterbury Rugby community is proud of you and your journey.
