United RFC celebrates belated centenary

United RFC will celebrate a belated centenary this weekend, with the club raising the bat a couple of years late due to the effects of Covid-19.

The club, who are one of the four clubs that make up the combined Hurunui RFC, will celebrate the occasion in Hawarden with a full Hurunui club day, with games from Under 6’s right up to Division 1, where the Hogs take on West Melton.

The occasion will be celebrated with a 3 halves of rugby today, with the old boys of the club strapping on the boots and putting on the colours once again, followed by festivities at the Hawarden Hall, with dinner and guest speakers to look forward to.

The Canterbury Events team will also be out at the Reserve this weekend, with the Club Day set up heading north to celebrate the birthday of a proud Northern club.
