The pinnacle of Miles Toyota Cup Final arrives with CGHS and Avonside Girls' ready to battle for the 2022 title
Both teams put together impressive campaigns, with Christchurch Girls' High continuing their unbeaten run, while Avonside Girls' only fell to today's opponent, setting them up with a chance to get one back in the final.
It will be a battle for Avonside against a Christchurch Girls' High that has had continued supremacy in the Miles Toyota Cup competition, but anything can happen come finals time.
"We're under no illusions that it will be tough taking Christchurch Girls' High on," said Avonside coach BJ Rakena, "but the girls have worked hard to get here and they're all very excited for today's game."
"It's been an awesome season for our girls with heaps of lessons learnt along the way, and it's a great opportunity to send our year 13 girls off with a final."
For Christchurch Girls' High coach Jamie Livingstone, today's game provides the chance for his side to perform on the platform that a final provides.
"The girls can't wait to get out there on the big stage at Ngā Puna Wai and we'll be ready to go come kick off." said Livingstone.
"They're an epic bunch of girls, they are all so determined and they're an absolute dream to coach, willing to try anything and everyth."
Today's game kicks off at 4pm at Ngā Puna Wai, with a livestream available here for those who can't attend in person. Refereeing the final is Scott Herbert, and he'll be assisted by Dave Roberts and Mark Bruhns, alongside sub controller Rich McCormick.
