Fihaki re-signs with Canterbury Rugby

Exciting young utility back Chay Fihaki has re-signed with Canterbury Rugby for the 2023 season, locking in his immediate future with the red & blacks.

Fihaki, 21, has been a pivotal member of the Canterbury side in recent years, growing into an integral member of the squad.  

With the ability to play across the backline, Fihaki has become known for his lightning quick speed and big boot, giving him the tools to attack from anywhere on the field.  

While he still has finals rugby in his sights, Fihaki is excited by the opportunity to look ahead to next year with his new deal locked in.  

“I’m feeling excited about the season coming up. 2023 will be another year for me to grow, especially learning off the more senior players and All Blacks,” Fihaki said. 

“My focus will definitely be on being more confident and backing my skillset.” 

Growing up in Auckland, Fihaki has made Christchurch his home in recent years, with his family moving down and the young man purchasing his first home.  

“Home for me is wherever my family is, and to get (my first home) down here, was pretty special.” 

Also re-signing for the Crusaders, red & black fans will be treated to more Fihaki magic in 2023.
