Next weekend sees Matariki celebrated as a public holiday for the first time. Signifying the beginning of the Māori New Year, Matariki provides the opportunity for us all to come together and reflect on the year that has passed, celebrate the present, and plan for the future.
For us here at Canterbury Rugby, we’re taking the upcoming public holiday to celebrate all aspects of rugby, across all three of our sub-unions. Importantly, on Saturday the 25th of June also signifies our Women’s Finals at Ngā Puna Wai, with all four play-off games in our Canstaff Women’s Premier competition, including both finals, joined by a Premier Reserve game and skills sessions for our tamariki to learn from some of the best.
Alongside all the on-field action, we’ll have a sausage sizzle, bouncy castle, arts & crafts and the World Cup will also be on show. There is something for everyone on what will be an epic celebration of all things rugby, so make sure you get down to Ngā Puna Wai next Saturday!
