Canterbury Rugby is one of New Zealand’s 26 Provincial Unions. We have 48 Rugby Clubs and over 15,000 registered players, coaches, referees and volunteers spread from Hanmer Springs and Kaikoura to the north, to the Rakaia River boundary in the south, and from the beaches on the east coast to the Southern Alps to the west. Canterbury Rugby has three Sub-Unions within our region to assist in managing their local Clubs and competitions. To learn more about each Sub-Union, visit their website below.

  • Ellesmere Rugby

    The Ellesmere Rugby Sub-Union oversees rugby in the Selwyn District and Clubs in Banks Peninsula.

    The Metro Rugby Sub-Union includes all Clubs within Christchurch City and also Lincoln University RFC.
