Tom Sanders

Sanders joined the Canterbury squad for the first time in 2014.  The Banks Peninsula boy was a bolter into the NZ Under 20 squad that same year, attending only the final camp but making it to the team and becoming one of the standout forwards at the IRB Junior World Rugby Championship.  He has also represented the New Zealand Universities team.
He played in the Lincoln High School first XV for three years and was part of the New Zealand Schools Academy. Sanders went on to play for the Lincoln University Club and studied for a Bachelor of Commerce in agricultural management at the university.
Sanders was named in the Crusaders Wider Training Group in 2015, but shifted to the Chiefs for the 2016 Super Rugby season.
Originally a midfield back before being converted to a loose forward in his teens, he still shows the speed of a back.
