Rob Thompson

Rob Thompson made his Canterbury debut in 2013 when he was brought in as injury and All Black cover and ended up making 10 appearances in the title-winning season.  He was officially named in the squad for the first time the following year.
Thompson hails from Manawatu, but when he wasn't offered a spot in the Manawatu squad he decided to make the move to Christchurch in the hope of furthering his playing career.
He was named the Canterbury Maori Player of the Year in 2013. He also earned a place in the Crusaders wider training group in 2014 and made his Crusader debut early in the season against the Blues. Thompson is currently a member of the Highlanders Super Rugby squad.
He is a powerful runner and will bring some flair to the Canterbury back line again this season.
