Mitchell Drummond

189.jpg
A former Nelson College First XV captain, Drummond moved south at the beginning of 2013 to further his rugby career at the Canterbury Rugby Union Academy. His natural talent was noticed and his hard work at the Academy rewarded with a spot in the 2013 Canterbury squad. He played his third season for the Crusaders this year and was a genuine competitor for the starting halfback spot.
In 2012 Drummond was a member of the New Zealand Barbarians secondary schools rugby team, was selected in the New Zealand under-19 touch team, and was one of six school students chosen to train with the All Black Sevens team at a training camp.
He has also represented Nelson in cricket, but Drummond has chosen to park that other sporting love on the sideline for now while he focuses on his rugby career.
This year's Mitre 10 Cup season has ended prematurely for Mitchell, breaking his leg during training in the early weeks of the competition.  He is expected to be fit to return early in the 2017 Super Rugby season.
