Luke Whitelock is following in eldest brother George's footsteps in captaining the Canterbury team this season. George captained the side from 2009 - 2013, leading the team to five successive titles.
He has experience in leading a team, as the captain of the New Zealand under 20 side in the 2011 IRB Junior World Championship.
Luke is the youngest of the four Whitelock brothers who have all played for Canterbury, and is a loose forward like eldest brother George, but specializes at number 8.  He debuted for Canterbury in 2011.
Luke was also part of the Crusaders wider training group in 2011 and was promoted to the full squad the following year. He is currently a member of the Highlanders squad.
His mother Caroline was the daughter of All Black Nelson Dalzell, while his father Braeden played for Manawatu and the New Zealand Colts.
