Daniel Lienert-Brown had his debut season with Canterbury in 2014, gaining selection after impressing in the club rugby season where is helped his High School Old Boys team to the 2014 club rugby title.
Lienert-Brown was also in the 2014 Crusaders Knights development team and earned the call-up to the senior Crusaders side as injury cover partway through the season.  He was named on the bench for the Hurricanes match in April but made his debut the following week against the Lions in Johannesburg.  
He was part of the NZ Under 20 side that competed in the IRB Junior World Championship in France, called in as a replacement for fellow Canterbury recruit Alex Hodgman when he injured his shoulder.
Lienert-Brown was picked up by the Highlanders as injury cover during the 2015 Super Rugby season and was contracted again in 2016.
