Canterbury team to play Counties Manukau in semi-final

Canterbury will take on Counties Manukau in the first of the Mitre 10 Cup Premiership semi-finals this Sunday.

Canterbury Head Coach Scott Robertson has made seven changes to the starting fifteen that took on Counties in Pukekohe last weekend.

Dominic Bird joins Scott Barrett at lock, with David McDuling providing cover from the bench this week.  Loose forward Reed Prinsep comes into the starting line-up at 6, while Tom Sanders shifts to 7 to take the place of injured Jed Brown.

In the backs, Richie Mo’unga comes back in at first five, shifting Ben Volavola to the reserves.  Jordie Barrett moves to second five and Johnny McNicholl to fullback, making room for Nathan Earle to come onto the wing.

If Canterbury are succesful in Sunday’s semi-final, they will host the Premiership final back at AMI Stadium and Robertson says their supporters can help to get them there just by getting along to the game:  “Many of our best performances this season have been when we’ve played at home, and that’s thanks to the fantastic support we receive from the Canterbury fans at our stadium.  We need that noisy support more than ever this weekend so that we can make the most of our home advantage, and keep our season alive for one more game,” Robertson said.

Kick off is at 2:05pm on Sunday and tickets are available through, phone 0800 224 224.
